Below are some frequently asked questions about inner voice sessions, which I began offering in April.
What is the inner voice?
If we’re going to talk about the inner voice, we must first talk about the mind. The mind’s job is thinking: thinking and worrying, thinking and obsessing, thinking and getting angry.
The inner voice lies beyond all that.
Instead of thinking, the inner voice knows. It knows, and it is overwhelmingly unconcerned with the worries and problems you face today. My job is to help you connect to it.
How can I know it’s not my mind?
During our session, I’ll show you how to dismiss the thoughts of your mind.
Some people hear their inner voice by focusing on their heart. Some hear it in their gut.
The longer you spend trying to connect to your inner voice, the easier it will be to distinguish your mind’s thoughts from your inner voice.
What if I’m worried about how my session will go?
If I could tell you anything, it would be to not worry about your session. It should be a gift you give yourself, not a stressor.
There is no award for inner voice work. There are no winners and losers. There are no trophies. There are no plaques.
There is no perfection, there is just practicing and becoming.
During our time together, I will show you a set of tools you can use, now and in the future, to find peace and connect to a part of you that lives beyond your mind’s worries.
After our session, you’ll have all the tools to keep connecting to your inner voice. You can keep practicing and strengthening that connection (as you would with any good friend, as you would with any new skill).
Plus, it’s audio only, not video, so that you can be as comfy as possible.
What might happen during my session?
First, we’ll wave goodbye to your mind and do some breathing exercises to help you get into a receptive state to connect to your inner voice.
Then, one of three things may happen (and all of them are wonderful).
- First, you may hear silence. This is great, because it comes at a different frequency than the thoughts of your mind. After always being at the mercy of your mind and its rampant thoughts, worries and judgments, it can be very nice to bask in stillness.
- Then, you might get words, pictures, or images, and during our call, I will teach you how to deal with both.
- Number three, you could get an emotional beanbag. These are old, trapped emotions that come up because they are ready to be released. More about this in the next question.
Many clients experience all three of these things during a session. I guarantee that you will leave the session feeling a sense of relaxation, having experienced the deep peace of knowing and being loved.
You said you can help me release old, trapped emotions?
Yes. Sometimes, old emotions come up because they are ready to be processed and released. We call these emotional beanbags, because they sometimes feel heavy and weighty, like little beanbag placed on top of your body.
What is an emotional beanbag?
Beanbags are what author Eckhart Tolle calls the painbody: old emotional experiences that have stayed with you because they weren’t fully faced when they first occurred.
The bean bags that come up during your session will come up because they are safe to be released. I can assure you that releasing emotional beanbags is 100 percent safe and normal. Everyone has hundreds of them, and after our session together, you can release beanbags on your own. That means noticing when you feel triggered, angry, or anxious, and having new tools to work through and resolve the emotions on your own.
Most importantly, you don’t need to know which “beanbags” you want to release. You don’t need to know the specific story and background attached to the emotions that may come up. I find that to be very powerful.
If you process a lot of emotion during our session (and I love it when clients do), you will find yourself feeling lighter and better in the coming days, having processed old feelings that were weighing you down. You may want to drink water after our session to facilitate the flow of energy.
When beanbags come up, you might leave our session with new knowledge: understanding about a universal truth that your inner voice wants you to know, or new knowledge about a prior misunderstanding you didn’t even realize you were operating with.
Will I get answers about that one big topic? You know, the one I’m really worried about.
Maybe. Some clients come in with an agenda, only to find that their inner voice does not care about the items on it. It has other, more pressing concerns: old pain it wants them to release or universal truths it wants them to know.
While your inner voice may not answer all your questions during our session, I can assure you that you will leave with more peace and a transformed perspective: a deeper understanding of how loved you really are and the ability to continue your own work with your inner voice in the future.
Why are you doing this?
I have been studying personal development since 2006, including training to be a life coach in 2013 with The Life Coach School. In 2020, I became a certified Inner Voice Facilitator through Jess Lively.
All the tools I have learned before becoming an Inner Voice Facilitator were helpful, and I share and write about those on my blog and in videos on Instagram.
In my opinion, speaking to your inner voice is the best tool that I can share with you because it empowers you to step into your own guidance and wisdom and heal your own experiences.
I am just a facilitator for you to experience the wealth of your own wisdom. The guidance you need is within you, and I will facilitate the process that helps you unlock it.

“Even before my session, Kristyn calmed the fears my mind had about the unknowns of what the session would bring. During the session, her voice was very soothing and calming. I appreciated how supportive and encouraging she was. I felt so light and happy and calm after my session with Kristyn. I love how she taught me how to tap into my inner wisdom myself.”
